Swiftly Workspace vs Odoo: an honest comparison
We make Swiftly Workspace, so read this with that in mind.
Odoo fits businesses that want one suite with many modules, its own PEPPOL access point and a free plan for a single app. Swiftly Workspace fits service businesses on Apple devices that want customers, projects, approved timesheets and invoices in a native app for Mac, iPhone and iPad.
The two start from different places. Odoo is a broad suite you assemble app by app, used in the browser and on mobile. Swiftly is a narrower workspace built as native Apple apps. Which one suits you depends less on a feature count and more on how wide your needs are and which devices your team uses all day.

Checked 2026-10-18 on odoo.com and the App Store: the Odoo pricing page, Odoo's App Store listing, and Odoo's documentation on mobile apps, electronic invoicing and AI API keys. We leave prices out of this comparison on both sides.
What Odoo does well
Breadth is Odoo's strength. You can start small: the One App Free plan gives you one app with unlimited users on Odoo Online, and paid plans, priced per user per month, come with a free trial. As the business grows, you add apps from the same suite instead of buying separate tools.
E-invoicing is a second strength. Odoo's documentation says it acts as both a PEPPOL access point and an SMP, so you don't need a separate provider to exchange e-invoices over the network. If you are new to the topic, our explainer on what PEPPOL is covers the basics.
Odoo also lets you bring your own AI. Its AI app works with your own OpenAI or Gemini key; the key is optional on Odoo Online and required on Odoo.sh or on-premise.
How Odoo works on Apple devices
Odoo's App Store app covers iPhone and iPad, and the listing shows no Mac version. On a Mac you use Odoo in the browser or install it as a web app. Odoo's own documentation says using the web app (a PWA) is recommended, and that the store apps are not compatible with single sign-on. None of that is a problem if your team is happy in a browser. If you want to know what changes when software is native instead, read native apps versus web apps for business.
Where Swiftly Workspace is different
- Native on Mac, iPhone and iPad. A native Mac app plus an iPhone and iPad app, for macOS 26 or later and iOS 26 or later. On the Mac, each customer or invoice opens in its own window. More in business software for the Mac.
- Built for service work. Projects break down into Phases, Work Packages and Tasks with a budgeted amount, timesheets are reviewed in Timesheet Approvals, and Invoice this project turns approved billable hours into a draft invoice.
- Customers and money together. Customers with contacts and addresses, invoices, credit notes and proforma invoices that a person finalizes, customer payments allocated to the open invoice they pay, and vendor bills on the same workspace.
- A wider AI choice. Connect your company's own key for a provider such as OpenAI, Gemini or Mistral, or use Apple Intelligence on the device, where the text isn't sent to a cloud AI provider. See how bring your own AI key works.
- Roles with field-level permissions, so people see the fields their work needs.
Suite or focused app: questions to ask
- How many areas do you need today? If you need sales, invoicing, projects and several other areas from day one, a suite saves you stitching tools together.
- Who will set it up? A broad suite rewards time spent configuring it, often with a partner. A focused workspace asks less of you up front and does less.
- Where does your team work? If everyone is on Apple devices, native apps on each one are worth weighing. If the team is mixed, a browser-based suite reaches everyone.
- Do you need e-invoicing now? If your customers or your country already expect PEPPOL, choose a tool that sends and receives it today.
What to test in a trial
Set up one real customer and one real project in each tool, then run a month-end: hours approved, an invoice drafted and finalized, a payment recorded. Do it on the devices your team actually uses, including the Mac. Count the setup steps before you could start, and note which ones needed help.
Choose Odoo if
- You want one suite to grow into, with sales, invoicing, projects and many other apps.
- You need to send and receive e-invoices over PEPPOL today, in a country Odoo lists for PEPPOL registration.
- Your team works in a browser, or on a mix of devices beyond Apple.
- You want to start with one app on a free plan.
Choose Swiftly Workspace if
- Your team works on Macs, iPhones and iPads and wants native apps on each.
- Your business runs on projects and billable hours that need approval.
- You want a focused workspace for customers, projects and invoices rather than a suite you assemble app by app.
What Swiftly Workspace doesn't do
Swiftly doesn't send or receive PEPPOL e-invoices today, so if you need that now, Odoo covers it and we don't. Swiftly has no estimates, no stock management and no accounting ledger: your accountant keeps the books in their own tools. It runs on Apple devices, so a team on Windows or Android is better served elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions
Is there an Odoo app for Mac?
On 2026-10-18, Odoo's App Store listing covered iPhone and iPad and showed no Mac version. On a Mac you use Odoo in the browser or as a web app, which Odoo's documentation recommends.
Can I use my own AI key with Odoo?
Yes. Odoo's documentation describes using your own OpenAI or Gemini key in its AI app, optional on Odoo Online and required on Odoo.sh or on-premise (checked 2026-10-18).
Does Swiftly Workspace send PEPPOL e-invoices?
Not today. Swiftly makes PDF invoices, which you can share from an iPhone or iPad. If PEPPOL is a must right now, Odoo handles it itself.
Is Odoo free?
Odoo's One App Free plan gives you one app with unlimited users on Odoo Online, and paid plans are priced per user per month, with a free trial (checked 2026-10-18).
How do I move from Odoo to Swiftly Workspace?
Export your records from Odoo to CSV. Swiftly Workspace imports customers and their contacts, vendors, items, open invoices, payments and projects from CSV or XLSX files, and you map the columns during the import. Bring across open invoices that are still fully unpaid, and settle partly paid ones in Odoo.
Run your business on Apple.
Create your account on the web, then set up your workspace in the app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
