How to Create Item Dimension in Swiftly Workspace
Step 1: Accessing the Item Dimension Configuration
Let’s begin by opening Swiftly Workspace.
From the homepage:
Click on Configuration
Then select Master Data Management
A new window will appear.
Scroll to the Item section and locate Item Dimension 1 through Item Dimension 4.
Tip: You can choose how many item dimensions are visible in your workspace.
To do this, go to Settings > Configuration > Item and define the number of active dimensions depending on your operational needs — for example, just one for simple setups, or all four for advanced classifications.
Step 2: Understanding the Purpose
Item Dimensions let you organize products and services using multiple levels of classification.
This is useful for:
Grouping items by type, category, or business model
Supporting better inventory tracking or service planning
Filtering and reporting by item attributes
Enhancing clarity in invoices, catalogs, and customer portals
Each dimension drills deeper into the item’s nature or business logic.
Step 3: Creating a New Item Dimension Entry
To add a new dimension value:
Click the “+” button in the top-right corner of any Item Dimension level
Enter the name of the item category (e.g., Training Services)
Ensure the Active toggle is turned on
Only active dimensions will be available in product setup, invoicing, and workflows.
Step 4: Example Setup — Item Dimension 1 to 4 (From Broad to Specific)
Let’s walk through an example using a full 4-level classification — starting broad and drilling down to specific offerings:
Item Dimension 1: Offering Category
Example: Training Services
This is the broadest category that identifies the type of item offered — in this case, a service rather than a product.
Item Dimension 2: Service Type
Example: Technical Training, Customer Onboarding, Product Workshops
Once you select “Training Services” from Dimension 1, Dimension 2 displays the various types of training your company offers.
Item Dimension 3: Format or Delivery Mode
Example: Virtual Session, On-site Session, Self-paced Module
Selecting a service type like “Technical Training” in Dimension 2 opens up delivery format options in Dimension 3 — indicating how the service is delivered.
Item Dimension 4: Specific Service Package
Example: Advanced API Training – 3 Days, Onboarding Essentials – 5 Hours, Product Demo Lab – Self-paced
Each dimension depends on the selection from the level above, ensuring your item classification remains structured, scalable, and easy to navigate.
With this structure, your team can categorize any item — whether it’s a workshop, a digital product, or a bundled service — using consistent and meaningful labels.
Step 5: Navigating Between Item Dimensions
Navigation is intuitive:
Click any active entry under one dimension to open the next level
Add child entries based on the previous selection
Repeat the process across all configured dimensions
This structure supports accurate categorization without overwhelming your item list.
You’ve now successfully:
Accessed the Item Dimension configuration
Defined how many dimensions are visible in settings
Created a structured hierarchy from Dimension 1 to 4
Linked your item data to specific categories and service models
